  3. Hi peeps.
    I'll start...
I'm Ray born and reared up on Landen Road. And yes I did beat Tomo Delaney in a race around the block without any help, that rumour is true. Now 37 years later I've finally opened my own photo studio on the Ballyer Road. Yisall know Boland's Hardware so go inside, up the stairs and there's me and all my goodness ready to shoot you. (I mean shoot with a camera of course unless you try and scoff me jaffa cake muffin.)

So here's the real news, errr plug...
There's no need to go into town or over to Blanch to get photos done of your little babies. And even though fair play to Tesco there's no need to stand in their doorway with all the auwlones gawkin at ya when you can use my private studio. I can do the pixie photos if you want but I also like to do much more artistic shots that'll start a conversation that'll last beyond "ah that's luvly". Pop into Boland's and have goo at some of my work.
~After that I do toddlers, kids (inc. confo, communion etc), couples, families and the whole lot. A great Wedding package, Debs coverage, and key rings at 21st parties. With the help of some great ladies we're now adding Glamour Girl and Boudoir shots to our range.

Added to all that are some Photoshop skills that people find useful. I take old photos and repair them. Lately I've been asked to make collages using old photos; people bring me a few photos and I put them all together on one print in a frame. So far I'm getting a great reaction to my work and plenty of referrals.

Finally I sell photo gifts. I can put your picture onto Mugs, jigsaws, clocks, boxers & thongs, baby bibs & Uni Grows are just some of the collection.

So that's a small blurp about what I'm up to. Come by and visit my setup upstairs in Boland's Hardware and at the very least visit my site www.topfoto.ie

    All the best,

    Ray.

  4. Hi Ray,
Its nice to hear of a home grown alternative to the overpriced photo experience, as a person that has suffered outrageous prices in Blanchardstown before, i'm wondering what price range and options do you have?

  6. Hi Stephen,
Yes your absolutley right, If Ray feels up to it I can arrange it for him to post a price list elsewhere on the website so hows about it Ray? Myself and Stephen have the same idea here and it can't be bad for business, so go on??

  7. Hi Lads.
At the moment the price is like this...

For €75 you get a private studio session for 30-90mins. Time is a loose arrangement because many factors dictate the time needed for a shoot in particular small children. When they get bored, tired and moody I take the "huff shot" which is the last one before they start crying. It's meant to be a nice and fun experience and a happy memory for all so when the unhappiness begins that's when the shoot ends.

During the normal run of a shoot we'll try everything we can think off, all angles, all combinations of people, we even change clothes which commonly includes a team jersey. Added to that I also change the backgrounds because this has a dramatic effect on the atmosphere of the picture. And I’ll say it a million times over “there’s no accounting for taste” so the different backgrounds give me the best chance of pleasing the customer with a picture that will suit their walls.

After the shoot you get to review the pictures (no 3 week wait here). Typically there are 50+ pictures for you to peruse. Then I’ll print some low resolution contact sheets for you to take home and consider, to show to the Aunties and Grannies and everyone else.

When you’ve made a choice I’ll give one 10”x8” print in a frame from a choice of about 5 different types. Every picture chosen for printing is airbrushed and perfected before printing. After that you can purchase any print any size at extra cost, from key rings up to giant wall canvas prints.

Too much choice can be problematic in ways too so in the New Year I’ll be putting together some value added packages. I’ll have more to tell you about that when it’s finalized.

In short, for 75 quid you get an hour of my time in a private studio, lots of pictures taken and one framed print to take home and hang on the wall.

That’s the quick blast of info for now boys. Any links on the Ballyer site would be appreciated.

    Ray.

  8. Hi Ray,
It sounds like a good service, when you have your value added packages ready then please contact/mail me on phickey@ballyfermotitcentre.com and don't forget to mention the extras for prints. I do like the 'cough' airbrushing concept so even Mary Harney has a chance

  15. Nathan I'm taking pictures since forever. As a kid a couple of times I asked for cameras for christmas. I even had an idea a long time ago to do the "Bullet Speed" motion that made the Matrix such a sensation but unfortunately as a kid I was laughed away. Bummer! Oh well I'm over it now hehe

  20. I Think the scene were the bullets are flying past Neo in the Matrix and some of the fights were made with Adobe After Effects, and could easily be done with the after effects software. Then the speed by just editing with the time-line on the program.
